OB (8th) are
seven points ahead of the relegation line, which is just enough to feel quite
certain of avoiding the relegation line. Maybe, that was the reason for the
terrible start against Brøndby last weekend. OB did not have a attempt on goal
until after more than 60 minutes. From then on, OB started to push on, and it
was obvious that striker Thomas Dalgaard gave the OB offense some extra power.
The question is whether OB dare to use a stationary player like Dalgaard in a
match against FC Midtjylland, where they are likely to get under pressure. OB
will benefit from the return of central defender, Daniel Høegh. This will be a
massive improvement, since they can line-up with the preferred defensive
structure. It was obvious that the changes last weekend created many problems.
OB will rely on Rasmus Falk, who seems very motivated at the moment. He is a
great player, who will be eager to finish the season well in order to gain a
spot on the team for the European Under 21 Championships. Apart from this OB
seem a bit shorthanded offensively, although they have several talented players
who we can expect more from in the coming seasons (Desler, Thomasen and Greve).
FC Midtjylland (1st) are set to win the title. All focus will be on the match
in the ensuing weekend: a home match against FC Copenhagen, which will be an
optimal chance for winning the title. FC Midtjylland have a lot of injuries at
the moment. Talented winger Sisto remains injured, while defenders Jim Larsen
and Kristian Bach (influential captain) are expected to be out. Furthermore,
two other defender Erik Sviatchenko and Andre Rømer left the last match with
injuries and are doubtful for this match. The many defensives injuries put the
back line under pressure, and FC Midtjylland are likely to line-up with only
one of the regular defenders. Offensively, they still have a great team, where
they have number 1 (Pusic), 3 (Duncan) and 7 (Igboun) on the league top
goalscoring list.
The many
defensive injuries are concerning, but it is doubtful if OB even manage to put
FC Midtjylland’s defence under pressure. FC Midtjylland will surely be able to
challenge the OB backline, which looks inferior to FC Midtjylland’s offense. FC
Midtjylland will probably take a slim win based on a moment of offensive
greatness or from set pieces. Not much value though due to the many injuries.
