Hobro (7th)
dropped vital points in the hunt for European spots last weekend. The 5-0 loss
at AaB did show that Hobro are still far from a top team. They are very
dependent of having a good day as a group, and when that fails they are
possibly the weakest team in the league. Fortunately for Hobro, they have only failed
at that a few times this season. It will be interesting to see how they rebound
from the humiliating display. Head coach Jonas Dal could use the loss to let
the newcomers Mikkel Beckmann and Mikkel Thygesen, both midfielders with
experience from the national team, to get a chance in the line-up. Hobro rank
10th in the league based on a home SoTR of 49%. No injuries or suspensions for
the home team. SønderjyskE (9th) have been dragged into the relegation race
after five games without a win. They still hold a margin of six points, but
this would be a good place to gain a bigger gap. SønderjyskE have been plagued
by injuries recently and this is still the case. On the bright side, veteran
defender Niels Lodberg and striker Tommy Bechmann are both close to a return
and could play parts here, although neither of them is expected to be ready for
90 minutes. Strong winger Johan Absalonsen is still expected to be absent. A
big reason for the lack of success for SønderjyskE is the poor form of striker
Marvin Pourie. He has not scored in the last five matches despite of being the
main striker. The problem with Pourie is that he is very selfish, and he would
rather try to score than pass the ball. In a poor period like this his team
suffers from that attitude. SønderjyskE will find some comfort in the strong
away strength they typically show. The rank 3rd in the league based on an away
SoTR of 53%. Away games are normally good for SønderjyskE since they can sit
back and wait for counter-attacking opportunities.
It is a
match between two teams who are experiencing a rather poor period. This is set
to be a very even match. SønderjyskE are typically strong in away games, but it
is doubtful that Hobro will push forward so SønderjyskE can use their
counter-attacking force. In a very even match like this we would rather make a
pick based on who got the best individual players to decide the match, and that
is Hobro with the likes of Quincy Antipas and Mads Hvilsom. Hvilsom has scored
13 goals this season from a wing position! Big risk of a draw here, so
insurance against that should be a sensible investment.

UPDATE: Antipas is out for Hobro. A value-killer. Antipas is a main weapon for Hobro in attack, where he draws a lot of attention.
