Esbjerg (11th) are really underperforming
compared to the quality of the squad. In the last match against FC Midtjylland
they appeared mentally affected, and they lost deservedly (2-0). The question
is how they will react here. Will they continue their downtrend, or will they
be boosted by the home support? On paper Esbjerg are stronger in every line,
and it is only the confidence issue that limits our belief in them. When
Esbjerg get a few victories they could be deadly, but until then nervous and
ugly performances might be in store. Esbjerg are without the strong central
defender Eddy Gomes. Daniel Stenderup replaces him, and he should be a decent
alternative. Esbjerg will hope that striker Pusic has a good day. FC
Vestsjælland (8th) must be feeling dizzy after their defeat to Hobro (3-1). FC
Vestsjælland were clearly the second best team on the pitch that day. Maybe
they were too naïve and took to much ball possession and thereby giving Hobro
optimal conditions for their counter attacking style. Against Esbjerg it will
be a different story, FC Vestsjælland are likely to have limited ball
possession, and they can practice their strong counter attacking game. However,
FC Vestsjælland have looked quite poor in away matches (losing all three), why
head coach Michael Hansen might focus on defending here. FC Vestsjælland have
just signed strong central defender Anders Kure, but he has been without a club
for months, so we doubt he will be in the starting eleven here. FC Vestsjælland
are without important absences.
It is a difficult match too predict. Based
on player quality odds 1.90 for a home win here is nice, but Esbjerg’s mental
condition scares us. We would rather bet on few goals, since Esbjerg have had
limited success offensively, while FC Vestsjælland will probably take a
defensive approach here.
Idea:
