Esbjerg (10th) have had a terrible start to
the season. In the Superliga they have played three matches and been the best
team in all of them, but despite of this only managed to salvage one point. At
the same time, Esbjerg were planning on a European adventure once again, but a
very late goal (5 minutes into overtime) by Polish Ruch Chorzow ended the hopes
(2-2 and Chorzow quailify on away goals). A terrible result since Esbjerg
dominated the match entirely. Esbjerg will probably be highly motivated to take
revenge after all these unlucky results. Esbjerg have a strong team that should
be able to challenge for the top spots in the Danish Superliga, when all
players are fit, which they are at the moment. However, some players might be
fatigued after playing many matches over a short period. Silkeborg (12th) have
not scored yet, and they have not really done well offensively. Defensively
they have looked fine, but this is not surprising since they have some
experienced veterans at the back. Offensively, they have some fine players in
Jeppe Illum, Nicolaj Agger and Morten Beck and at some point they will surely
start scoring once they get up to Superliga speed. In total, Silkeborg are just
an average team that will face a long hard struggle to survive in the league.
Strong midfielder Daniel A. Pedersen should return to full fitness for this
match.
Esbjerg are usually a strong home team. At
the same time they are significantly better than Silkeborg and highly motivated
to revenge past results. Silkeborg will try to defend the draw, but we expect
them to come up short here. In our opinion there is fine value in the home
victory.
