Brøndby (9th) are on the way to take over
OB’s position as the media’s favourite for negative critique. Brøndby have
looked frighteningly poor in the last three matches (three matches: two times
against Club Brügge and one against Hobro, total score 0-7). Head coach Frank is searching for the right
formation and is making many changes to the line-up without finding something interesting
to build upon. Offensively it is concerning how few chances Brøndby have been
able to create. Striker Makienok and offensive midfielder Kahlenberg are both
far away from the top form. Brøndby are very dependent on the performance by
that duo. At the moment it appears like winger Alexander Szymanowski, who just
returned from injury, is the only one with some ability to set up dangerous
situations. New signing, winger Elba Rashani, has looked quite poor so far.
Furthermore, other wingers Hasani and Hjulsager are both injured. Striker Johan
Elmander could make his season debut here after returning to training
Wednesday. He would surely be an upgrade. In defence, Brøndby have some serious
problems. The new signing, Semb Berge does not appear to be the solution to
Brøndby’s woes. The defence simply make to many stupid mistakes, and are also
easily overrun. OB (11th) must be more optimistic after a fine display last
weekend against AaB (1-1), where they should have won. OB have been quite poor
so far, but a formation change gave OB new life. The new 3-4-3 improved OB both
offensively and defensively. The two star players Emil Larsen and Rasmus Falk
were put in more dangerous situations with the new formation. OB still lack a
quality alternative to striker Bodul, but he might be able to assist his
teammates better in the new formation. OB are for once completely without
injuries, why optimism is high.
Brøndby have been so shockingly poor
lately, that the only reasons for optimism here is the strong home support and
the possible return of Elmander. OB’s Falk and Larsen should be able to take
advantage of the poor Brøndby back-line. Therefore we suspect a match with many
goals and possibly a surprising away win.
