AaB-FC Nordsjælland

AaB (5th) have been struggling in the first matches due to several injuries for key players, especially in the midfield. Things are looking better with the return of Nicolaj Thomsen and Rasmus Würtz. Now the only injured regular players are left back Jakob Ahlmann and striker Lukas Spalvis. AaB are fragile on the left back position, although youngster Jakob Blåbjerg has done fine as a stand in. The question is whether AaB will be able to field the preferred eleven after playing in Zagreb on Wednesday (they won 2-0 in a tough match!). Especially, players like Würtz and Thomsen that just returned from injury might need a break here. On the other hand, there is no midweek match in the upcoming week, so the point in resting players is limited. AaB are usually a really strong home team. FC Nordsjælland (3rd) have six points and had it not been for the speedy forward Uffe Bech, they would have had zero! Bech is a constant challenge for the opponents with his quick footwork and quality finishes. Unfortunately he is also the only threat currently with winger Joshua John not looking at his best at the moment. FC Nordsjælland’s greatest concern should be their defence that have conceded six goals in three matches. The central defence of young Gregor and slow Runje are in our opinion possibly the weakest in the league. It is way to easy to create chances against FC Nordsjælland currently. Notice, FC Nordsjælland are typically much weaker when playing away from the artificial pitch in Farum.

The question is how drained the AaB players are after there magnificent result in Zagreb. If AaB are motivated and fit, they should be able to take advantage of the fragile backline of FC Nordsjælland. Thus we prefer the home win, although we would like to be certain that the starting line-up do not include names like Augustinussen, Pedersen and Børsting. If so, AaB are not as strong.
