Randers-AaB

Monday 11/11 19.00
As we pointed out last weekend, Randers (7th) are gaining form. Randers showed this with a relatively secure win in SønderjyskE (3-1). Randers have not lost in the last four matches and are finally on a track that seems to fit with the quality of their squad. Randers have strong players in all lines, but might get their midfield depth tested for this match. Strong winger Borring is suspended, while captain and central midfielder Keller is injured and unlikely to play. Other winger Kamper might return from injury. If Keller cannot play, Randers will probably line-up with youngster Nicolai Poulsen or Lorenzo Davids (the cousin of Edgar). Keller has been underperforming this season, but the alternatives are not rated highly. AaB (2nd) are doing well. With a limited budget they have united a strong team of mostly local players. Especially the young wingers of Kasper Kusk and Nikolaj Thomsen have a huge potential. AaB also seem to have found a quality striker in the Swede Rasmus Jönsson, although he is still struggling with his fitness (only plays 70 minutes per game). AaB have two players with injury problems: the veteran midfielders Würtz and Augustinussen are both doubtful. Würtz is the normal starter and Augustinussen is his back-up so a problem if both players are absent. The last time the two teams met (medio September) it ended 3-2 to Randers; a deserved win for a Schwartz-less Randers. Now they have star striker Schwartz back in the line-up and they should stand good chances since their match-up seems good. AaB’s best player Kasper Kusk will have a hard time against the best left back in the league (our opinion) Adama Tamboura. Randers should stand good chances winning the midfield headed by the strong Bjarnason, especially if AaB are without their two veterans.

In our opinion the match is very equal. Much is of course dependent of the injury situation, but if the doubtful players are all absent we believe that Randers stand a good chance. We see no obvious reason for making AaB favourites. Randers have home field advantage and were the better team in their last meeting.
