SønderjyskE-FC Midtjylland

Friday 24/7 20.00
SønderjyskE (2nd) impressed with a secure 2-0 win at FC Nordsjælland. The win was impressive since SønderjyskE had five new-signed players in the line-up (plus a new head coach) and one should expect them to need some time to adjust. However, it seemed to work fairly well, and new-signed striker Thomas Dalgaard showed his finishing skills with two fine goals. SønderjyskE seem to continue their counter-attacking approach from last season and they also have some great players for this strategy. Especially the central midfield with Adama Guira, Janus Drachmann and Bjørn Paulsen has some physique and ball winning skills. SønderjyskE probably lack some creativity and they are not very impressive on the back positions. The situation is made worse by right back Marc Pedersen being doubtful. FC Midtjylland (3rd) have had a rather slow start with slim wins against Viborg and Lincoln Red Imps (Champions League). However, they are looking solid at the back and have not conceded yet. Offensively, they have some exceptional players in Pione Sisto (scored twice last weekend) and Martin Pusic (league top goalscorer last season), so even on the bad days they manage to take some slim wins. FC Midtjylland should have an excellent match-up on the left wing, where Sisto should give problems to Joao Pereira.

SønderjyskE looked strong last season and they are likely to have a fairly good season. There way of playing is however not suited for home games, and SønderjyskE tend to struggle at home since they cannot play as hesitant. Last season they only managed to take two home wins all season! FC Midtjylland have not impressed yet, but at the price they could be worth a bet. They are the titleholders and have a strong team.

Idea: 2 (AH -0.25) – 1.90 at Bet365

UPDATE: FC Midtjylland will be resting several players to get ready for the Champions League qualification match against APOEL on Tuesday. Four youngsters are set to replace important regulars. This is obviously bad news for our bet here. Odds 2.32 for SønderjyskE DNB at Nordicbet is a good option.

  1. Midtjylland looks weak compared to last season. Betting on them away with these odds is a moneyburner. You should take advantage that the bookies think highly of them now, being champions and all.
