Brøndby-OB preview

Sunday 26/7 16.00
Brøndby (9th) did not get the expected start. They were surprised to lose 2-1 in Aarhus, but they did not play a good match. They had a very difficult time opening up an AGF defence that is not among the best in the league. For once, talismanic Daniel Agger did not look like a player placed in a wrong league. Brøndby’s main problem is the midfield that is too defensive and lack creativity against a defensive and clever opponent. Brøndby try to compensate by placing their backs very high, but this make them very vulnerable to counter-attacks as seen in Aarhus. Brøndby will be playing an important second leg Europa League match on Thursday against Bulgarian Beroe, and this is likely to leave them a bit fatigued. OB (1st) are in the lead after an impressive 3-0 win against Hobro. OB succeeded in playing very direct counter-attacking. They have some excellent players for it: Rasmus Falk (brilliant player), Rasmus Festersen, Emil Larsen and Mikkel Desler. Sadly, Desler left the last match with an ankle injury that will keep him out for six weeks. This is a blow for OB, since he is an excellent midfielder that is good defensively and offensively. While OB have a strong team offensively for counter-attacks, the back line and goalkeeper are not as impressive. They could suffer on the flanks if they are placed under too much pressure as backs Mikkel Kirkeskov and Oliver Lund are not among the best backs in the league.

Brøndby should be clear favourites here. They are a strong home team and they face a OB team that look vulnerable at the back. Nevertheless, it is worth considering that Brøndby play a Europa League match on Thursday and that OB have some of the best players for counter-attacking in the league. We believe it might be worth a shot taking a gamble and go for a well-paid OB victory here.

Idea: 2 – 4.40 at Unibet

UPDATE: Falk is probably out with an injury. This really limits OB's chances in this match. If you took the bet at 4.40, you should probably lay it. Latest news suggest that Falk should be fit. However, Brøndby key defender Daniel Agger is out. Even better for our idea tip.

  1. Definetly value on away win. Brøndby are as always overrated. If this is the season Falk will stay injury free, it will also be the season which welcomes back OB in the top half.
